Sapona District Centennial Recognition Banquet

Come One, Come All, To The Event 100 Years In the Making!

Our 2021 District Banquet, will be a cerebration of 100 years of Scouting in Rowan County as well, as our Annual Leader Recognition Event. Be there or be square! This is truly an event not to miss! Please share this information with your unit leadership and families.

Event Details--

When:
The new official date for the Sapona Centennial Banquet is May 29, 2021.

Where:
The new location is Shiloh United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Granite Quarry, NC, located at 234 S Main St, Granite Quarry, NC 28146.

Cost:
$15.00 per Participant and that includes a limited edition banquet collector patch

We are accepting designs for the event patch.

5:30pm Gathering/Fellowship
6:00pm-9:00pm Event
6:10pm Meal
6:30pm Program

The History of Eagle Scouts Presentation and Limited Edition Special Centennial Unit Awards.

Attention Units:
Please invite all your current and former leaders (from all levels of Scouting) and Scouts and Eagle Scouts and Parents and your Chartered Partners.


Note:
As a Scout District, we currently need 19 more Eagle Scouts to achieve 1900, since Melvin Spencer, our first Eagle Scout, of Troop 44, 1st Presbyterian Church, Salisbury, in August 1929.

We have a special recognition for our 1900th Eagle Scout and hopefully, we will be able to hand it out at the Banquet. Unit Leaders please encourage your Scouts on the Eagle Trail, to complete their projects and their final Eagle Board of Review.

Please bring your Unit Flags to be apart of the largest opening flag ceremony, in decades and to be put on display during the event.
Also, start thinking about nominating your leaders for District Leader Recognition Awards

(EX: Cubmaster, Asst Cubmaster, Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos Leader of the Year, Scoutmaster, ASM of the Year, Venture Adviser, Asst Adviser of the Year, District Scouter of the Year, District Award of Merit)

Note:
District Award of Merit, will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2021

Nominate Your Outstanding Sapona District Scout Leaders and Volunteers for 2020!

Each Year the Sapona District BSA is proud to honor our outstanding unit leaders and volunteers. This year is especially significant because we are celebrating 100 years of scouting in Rowan County and Sapona District. We are currently seeking your nominations for the various awards and recognitions. Attached please find a nomination form for unit level awards plus a form for the District Award of Merit. Please take time now to identify and nominate your leaders for outstanding service during 2019. The deadline for submitting nominations is December 15, 2020. In the interim, submit all; nominations to our District Executive Dieter Stoelting in person or by email. Forms are available below.

EAGLE SCOUTS: As in the past we will recognize our  outstanding Eagle Scouts for 2020 at the banquet. Scoutmasters please notify your 2020 Eagle Scouts of this opportunity and encourage them and their families to attend.

Please make plans now to participate and please nominate your outstanding leaders. If you have any questions or wish to be involved in the Centennial Banquet planning process please let Henry Fairley, Dieter or the District Committee know.
